<div id="readability-page-1"><div><p><span>    A sale of oil and gas leases in the Gulf of Mexico last week attracted $300.4 million in high bids, about $21 million more than the official tally published on the day of the auction, U.S. officials said on Tuesday.</span></p><p><span>The U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, through a spokesperson, said three bids had inadvertently been omitted from the high bid total of $279.4 million reported on Dec. 10.</span></p><p><span>The three missing bids were all for tracts in the Keithley Canyon area and included the auction's highest bid of $18.6 million from </span>Chevron<span> </span><span>, BOEM spokesperson Hillary McKey said in an email.</span></p></div></div>
