Spotify now lets you share what you’re streaming in real time with friends

Spotify is enhancing its social features by introducing a new Messages feature that allows users to see what friends are streaming in real time and send requests to start collaborative listening sessions called Jams. Users must enable the "listening activity" feature in their settings to share their activity. The feature will be available on iOS and Android by early February, and is aimed at increasing user retention by keeping interactions within the app. Messages can only be sent to individual users and are encrypted, but not end-to-end encrypted.
