# "Haifei Show" or "Ai Qi"? Compliance issues behind the solution controversy

Changes in agency rights are not uncommon in the medical beauty and personal care industry, but during the simultaneous adjustment of brands, products, and channels, related compliance issues often become more pronounced.

In 2025, Shanghai Kaimeili Medical Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Kaimeili") became the exclusive agent for the HydraFacial brand in mainland China. After the transfer of agency rights was completed, various voices began to emerge in the market regarding issues such as the source of HydraFacial supporting solutions, filing information, and efficacy claims.

**"Alternative Solutions" Spark Controversy**

Public information shows that starting from the second quarter of 2025, HydraFacial adjusted its sales model in the Chinese market from a direct sales model to a distributor model, with Kaimeili responsible for the sales of HydraFacial beauty equipment and supporting solution products.

During the transition period of the agency rights adjustment, products referred to in the market as "alternative solutions" or "2.0 version solutions" became an urgent issue for Kaimeili to address. In response to this situation, Kaimeili's founder Kelly stated on her personal social media account that "the first-generation solution has long been discontinued, HydraFacial China has never produced so-called 2.0 version solutions, nor has it authorized any company or individual to produce platform solutions," and raised questions about the "source of alternative solutions."

According to images provided by HydraFacial staff, some solution products circulating through unofficial channels are labeled as "Hydryin Essence Series," and their English designation differs from the "Hydrafacial" used officially by HydraFacial.

Relevant business information shows that the "Hydryin" trademark was registered by Shanghai Senyuanlin Biotechnology Co., Ltd. Senyuanlin also appeared in a clarification statement published by the public account "HF HydraFacial" operated by Kaimeili in September 2025. This statement mentioned that there is no longer a product agency relationship between HydraFacial and Senyuanlin as well as Shanghai Sinaina International Trade Co., Ltd.

**Are Genuine Solutions Inconsistent with Filing?** In addition to the controversy over "alternative solutions," the correspondence between the filing entity of the genuine solutions and the names of products in market circulation has also attracted attention.

According to public information, the classic skincare trilogy from HF involves three solutions: Active-4 (Aiqi Purifying Hydrating Essence), Beta-HD (Aiqi Rejuvenating Conditioning Essence), and Antiox+ (Aiqi Moisturizing Brightening Essence). These products were first filed by HF Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. in 2021 and were canceled at the end of December 2025.

In January 2025, HF Shanghai Company completed the filing for "HF Rejuvenating Conditioning Essence" and "HF Moisturizing Brightening Essence," but the related filing information was also canceled at the end of the same year.

Meanwhile, the National Medical Products Administration's filing system shows that Guangzhou Kexin Economic and Trade Co., Ltd. completed the filing for "HF Purifying Hydrating Essence," "HF Rejuvenating Conditioning Essence," and "HF Moisturizing Brightening Essence" before the end of December 2025, but the name of the filed products did not include the "Aiqi" series.

It is worth noting that the current Chinese name on the outer packaging of the genuine solutions displayed by Kemeili and its official channels is the "Aiqi" series, while the English label on the bottle is "Edge for life," which is inconsistent with the "HF" used in the filing name.

Regarding the above situation, the reporter sent an inquiry letter to Kemeili asking whether the Aiqi series products are filed products and for the corresponding filing information. As of the time of publication, no written response has been received.

**Filing efficacy only includes moisturizing and exfoliating**

In terms of product efficacy, the differences between the filing information and market promotional content have also drawn attention.

The National Medical Products Administration's filing information shows that the filing efficacy of HF Purifying Hydrating Essence is "moisturizing, exfoliating," the filing efficacy of Rejuvenating Conditioning Essence is "exfoliating," and the filing efficacy of Moisturizing Brightening Essence is "moisturizing."

 On December 10, 2025, Kaimeli and Shouliker jointly launched the "Hydrodynamic Color Repair Twin Stars" project. In the project introduction materials, the Haifeixiu project (Antiox+) is described as capable of achieving "anti-inflammatory and soothing" functions.

In addition, some materials provided by Haifeixiu staff also include statements such as "introducing a large amount of anti-inflammatory and antibacterial ingredients to avoid skin inflammation and reduce redness."

The reporter noted that the aforementioned descriptions of "anti-inflammatory and soothing" effects did not appear in the registered efficacy scope of the related products. Regarding the issue of efficacy promotion basis, the reporter inquired with Kaimeli but had not received a response by the time of publication.

At the same time, some Haifeixiu beauty stations in their online promotions also described the efficacy of the Haifeixiu project as improving fine lines, reducing redness (vascular) and acne, tightening, and whitening, which also did not appear in the registered efficacy.

**Previously Penalized for Promoting "Medical" Functions**

Public information shows that the Haifeixiu brand has previously attracted the attention of regulatory authorities regarding efficacy promotion issues.

The administrative penalty decision from the Shanghai Jing'an District Market Supervision Administration indicates that in 2022, Haifeixiu Shanghai Company was found to have violated laws by using medical terms such as "suppressing inflammation" in advertisements published on its public account, constituting illegal use of medical terms in ordinary cosmetic advertisements.

In 2023, Haifeixiu Shanghai Company was again found to have violated Article 8, Paragraph 1 of the Anti-Unfair Competition Law of the People's Republic of China by claiming that the Haifeixiu skincare beauty device had therapeutic effects in training brochures, and was subjected to administrative penalties.

Data shows that the Haifeixiu skincare beauty device is approved and managed as a medical device in the United States, while when introduced domestically, components with therapeutic attributes such as lymphatic care handles and red-blue light therapy lamps were removed and sold as beauty instruments.

Against this backdrop, how the efficacy promotion of related products and projects aligns with their product attributes in the domestic market has become an ongoing issue that needs to be addressed following the change of agency rights.

In the interview request, the reporter also inquired with Kaimeli regarding the complete introduction plan for the equipment and the definition of product therapeutic functions. No relevant response had been received by the time of publication
