# Tesla reportedly procured solar equipment worth $2.9 billion from Maxwell and other Chinese companies

According to a report by Reuters, Tesla (TSLA) plans to procure equipment worth $2.9 billion from several Chinese suppliers, including Maxwell, for the production of solar panels and batteries, with the goal of adding 100 gigawatts of solar capacity in the United States.

It is reported that Maxwell, which is listed in Shenzhen, is one of the main suppliers for this photovoltaic equipment procurement, and the company is seeking permission from the Ministry of Commerce of China. Maxwell's stock price had previously risen by nearly 20%, but the latest increase has narrowed to about 9%.

Elon Musk stated in January this year that solar energy is sufficient to meet all electricity demands in the United States, including the growing electricity needs of data centers
