On April 8, spurred by news of a US-Iran ceasefire agreement, A-shares and Hong Kong stocks opened significantly higher in early trading. Previously, Asia-Pacific markets had generally moved higher, with Japanese and Korean stock markets rallying substantially. Due to the easing of geopolitical tensions, international oil prices plummeted, leading to a wave of daily limit drops for A-share oil and gas stocks, while coal stocks also experienced a collective adjustment.
A-shares opened higher across the board in early trading, with the three major indices surging at the start of the session. The ChiNext Index rose 3%, and the Shanghai Composite Index rose over 1%, once again returning above the 3,900 mark. Computing hardware exploded, precious metals saw a wave of daily limit gains, and oil and gas stocks fell sharply. Hong Kong stocks also opened significantly higher, with the Hang Seng Tech Index rising nearly 3% and technology stocks collectively rebounding.
In the bond market, treasury bond futures fell collectively.
