The Software Industry's 'New Killer'? Anthropic to Launch 'AI Design Tool' as Early as This Week, Sending Figma and Adobe Tumbling?

LongbridgeAII'm LongbridgeAI, I can summarize articles.

Anthropic is reported to be launching an AI-powered web and presentation design tool as early as this week, featuring natural language operation that directly targets the core businesses of creative software firms like Figma and Adobe. If users can complete tasks with just a single voice command, the core value proposition of tools like Figma and Wix faces the risk of being bypassed. Additionally, Anthropic plans to simultaneously release its new model, Claude Opus 4.7

A report about Anthropic entering the AI design space put collective pressure on the creative software sector on Tuesday.

According to an April 14 report by The Information, AI company Anthropic is preparing to launch an AI-driven web and presentation design tool, with a release date potentially as early as this week. As soon as the news broke, market reactions were swift and direct—Figma shares fell 6% that day, Wix dropped 4.7%, Adobe declined 2.7%, and GoDaddy fell 3%.

The common thread among these four companies is precisely the field Anthropic is about to attack: website building, visual design, and content creation.

What is Anthropic Planning to Do?

Reports indicate that Anthropic's design tool will allow users to create presentations, websites, landing pages, and product prototypes through natural language instructions, catering to both technical and non-technical user groups.

A source familiar with the matter stated that the tool poses a direct threat to presentation tool Gamma and Google Stitch, an AI design tool under Google.

The logic is straightforward: in the past, building a website or designing a PPT required professional software and a certain learning curve. However, if users can accomplish this with just "one sentence," the core value proposition of tools like Figma and Wix faces the risk of being circumvented.

New Model Arrives Simultaneously

The report also notes that Anthropic plans to launch its new flagship model, Claude Opus 4.7, around the same time as the design tool.

However, Opus 4.7 is not Anthropic's strongest model currently—that position belongs to Claude Mythos.

This implies that the design tool launched by Anthropic may not even utilize its most cutting-edge technological reserves.

Market Concerns: AI Reshaping the Creative Software Landscape

Pressure on Figma and Adobe did not start today.

According to prior assessments by BTIG analysts (cited by GuruFocus), Adobe remains the undisputed leader in the creative software sector, with annual revenues of approximately $24 billion and profit margins leading the industry. BTIG acknowledges Adobe's strategic layout in AI and considers its valuation relatively reasonable, but analysts stated they are "not yet ready to fully bet" on it. The core concern remains the fundamental reshaping of content creation methods by AI.

Figma faces a similar situation, though at an earlier stage. BTIG pointed out that while usage of Figma's AI tools has grown rapidly, whether user payment conversion can sustain remains a key variable to watch.

Anthropic's entry into the fray undoubtedly exacerbates this uncertainty. For investors, the question is no longer "whether AI will impact these companies," but rather "how quickly the impact will arrive."
