L&T Energy signs long-term green ammonia supply deal with Japan's ITOCHU

Larsen and Toubro's green energy unit has signed a long-term agreement with Japan's ITOCHU Corp to supply 300,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually. This supply will come from a proposed facility in Gujarat, aimed at decarbonizing the shipping sector. ITOCHU plans to create a global green ammonia supply ecosystem along key maritime routes. Indian firms are increasingly securing green ammonia contracts with countries like South Korea and Japan, as India targets 5 million tons of green hydrogen and its derivatives by 2030 with government support.
