# BOJ holds rates, but Iran war inflation pushes Japan toward hike

The Bank of Japan kept interest rates unchanged at 0.75%, but a rare 6-3 split exposed growing pressure inside the central bank to tighten policy as the Iran war drives up energy costs and inflation risks. Three board members pushed for an immediate hike to 1.0%, raising market expectations that the BOJ could move as soon as June if price pressures keep building.
