After a sharp surge in the previous session, the Indian equity markets remained under pressure on April 30 weighed down by rising geopolitical tensions and a spike in Brent crude prices to wartime high.

At close, the Sensex was down 582.86 points or 0.75 percent at 76,913.50, and the Nifty was down 180.1 points or 0.74 percent at 23,997.55.

**US Equities (Mixed)**

The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq advanced to record closing highs on Friday, boosted by robust earnings and a dip in crude prices, and turning the page on their biggest monthly percentage gains in years.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 152.87 points, or 0.31%, to 49,499.27, the S&P 500 gained 21.11 points, or 0.29%, to 7,230.12 and the Nasdaq Composite gained 222.13 points, or 0.89%, to 25,114.44.

**Crude (Slips)**

Oil prices eased on Monday after U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States would begin an effort to free up ships stranded in the Strait of Hormuz, however the lack of a U.S.-Iran peace deal kept prices supported above $100.

**Gold (Up)**

Gold was steady, after a second weekly decline, as traders monitored progress toward a US-Iran deal and President Donald Trump’s plan to start guiding some ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
