For one, the Clarity Act has passed another key hurdle, helping to reduce long-standing regulatory uncertainty in crypto, especially for XRP. Ripple, XRP's creator, previously spent years in a legal dispute with the SEC over allegations that XRP was an unregistered security, a case that was settled in August last year. The legislation would establish a clearer regulatory framework for digital assets and could effectively cement XRP's status as a digital commodity in federal law, a classification already used by both the SEC and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. This would remove a major overhang for XRP, which Daly believes could support broader institutional adoption. On May 14, the Senate Banking Committee approved the bill, briefly boosting XRP's price. It now advances to a full Senate vote, which is expected in June. Secondly, XRP ETFs, which give institutional investors exposure to XRP, have seen accelerating inflows. On May 11, spot XRP ETFs recorded $25.8 million in inflows, the highest single-day figure since January 5, while Ethereum ETFs saw nearly $17 million in outflows on the same day. As of May 16, XRP ETFs held about $1.3 billion in assets under management. JPMorgan estimates they could attract $4 billion to $8 billion in inflows during their first year, although current momentum is still building. "The Clarity Act could help with that by cementing XRP's regulatory status," Daly went on to say. Lastly, Rakuten Wallet, a subsidiary of Japan's largest e-commerce group, has integrated XRP into its Rakuten Pay app. This enables the app's 44 million users to spend XRP at more than 5 million merchants across Japan, while also allowing XRP purchases using Rakuten Points. The integration fits XRP's design as a fast, low-cost payment network and expands its exposure to a large consumer base. The ability to convert Rakuten Points into XRP could further support adoption, given that more than 3 trillion points have been issued, valued at roughly $23 billion. Daly thinks this might also encourage cautious investors to "dip their toes" into the crypto market without risking actual cash. While recent developments have been broadly positive for XRP, Daly points out that these do not guarantee the price will push higher.
