# China Forms Consortium for Industrialization of Sci-Tech Achievements

(Yicai) June 1 -- China has established the Consortium for the Industrialization of Scientific and Technological Achievements, aiming to provide relevant one-stop full-chain services to central state-owned enterprises, research institutes, colleges, and other members.

The consortium, set up by CHN Energy Investment Group and others under the guidance of the State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission in Beijing on May 30, includes all 97 enterprises directly controlled by the central government and backbone firms on the upstream and downstream of their respective supply chains, as well as major research institutes, universities, and innovative private companies, according to a launch conference held on the same day. 

Central SOEs are non-financial state-owned enterprises under the supervision of the SASAC. As the backbone of China's SOEs, they mainly operate in areas concerning national security, core national economic sectors, and people's livelihood.

The consortium aims to leverage the comparative advantages of central SOEs in gathering innovative resources, enriching major application scenarios, and having a vast market scale to promote the deep integration between technological and industrial innovation through their overall synergistic and leading role, Yan Guochun, deputy general manager of CHN Energy, told media, including Yicai.

The consortium will build and operate a smart service platform for the industrialization of sci-tech achievements, which will serve as its digital foundation. It will first be opened to member companies and institutions and then gradually to various innovative entities to accelerate the transformation of sci-tech achievements into practical productive forces. 

The platform will become a key infrastructure supporting sci-tech innovation for central SOEs and a carrier connecting the entire country and radiating globally, Li Zhen, deputy director of the SASAC, said at the conference. It will leverage digital technologies such as artificial intelligence to achieve efficient connections of scientific research achievements on demand, research and development, pilot testing, and application sides, Li added.

The consortium will focus on building an ecosystem for the transformation of sci-tech achievements, acting as a bridge to facilitate their industrialization, fundamentally solving "last mile" challenges, including reluctance, unwillingness, inability, or slowness, noted Liu Ziqian, GM of state-owned China Telecommunications' sci-tech innovation department.
