# Amazon Stock (AMZN) Rises on This AI News

E-commerce giant Amazon (AMZN) has announced plans to spend "several billion dollars" to build a new artificial intelligence (AI) data center in Missouri.

Plans to build a brand new data center in Montgomery County, Missouri has AMZN stock up 3% on the day. The exact amount of money that Amazon plans to spend on the AI facility hasn't been disclosed publicly. But Amazon has said that it plans to spend $200 billion on its AI buildout this year.

In a written statement, Amazon said the new data center campus will create jobs and generate tax revenues that could fund infrastructure improvements in Missouri. The company also committed more than $7 million in direct community contributions, including funding for emergency dispatch services.

## **AI Infrastructure Investments**

Amazon said that the Missouri campus fits into its AI strategy as it follows a multibillion-dollar fiber optic supply agreement that the company struck with Corning (GLW) last week. The Corning deal will see the two companies collaborate on future U.S. data centers.

Amazon is one of several mega-cap technology companies that is spending heavily on AI infrastructure investments this year. Other technology giants such as Alphabet (GOOGL), Microsoft (MSFT), and Meta Platforms (META) are collectively planning to spend $700 billion in AI capital expenditures during 2026.

Amazon stock has a consensus Strong Buy rating among 46 Wall Street analysts. That rating is based on 45 Buy and one Hold recommendations issued in the last three months. The average AMZN price target of $318.21 implies 20% upside from current levels.
