# 2 Stocks Seeing Massive Insider Buying Activity — Why It Matters for Investors

Successful investing often comes down to finding opportunities before the broader market fully recognizes them. Sometimes that means backing companies capable of compounding value for years, while other times it means spotting stocks with near-term catalysts that could drive solid gains.

One way to uncover those opportunities is by following the actions of corporate insiders. Executives and directors have a deep understanding of their businesses, including operating trends, strategic priorities, and future prospects. While insider purchases are not a guarantee of future performance, they can provide a useful signal.

Large insider purchases can be especially noteworthy because they represent a direct commitment of personal capital. When senior executives or board members invest millions of dollars into their own companies, it often reflects confidence in the business and its outlook.

Against this backdrop, we turned to TipRanks' Insiders' Hot Stocks tool to pinpoint two companies that recently attracted multi-million-dollar insider purchases. Adding to the appeal, Wall Street analysts see double-digit upside in both names. Let's take a closer look.

**Mission Produce** **(AVO)**

First up, Mission Produce is an agricultural company that has been in business since 1983. Mission is known as a world leader in the supply of avocados and mangos, two popular fruits with strict growing conditions and relatively short shelf lives. Mission has growing and production operations in 20-plus premier production regions globally, allowing the company to 'chase the season' and avoid supply gaps. That has allowed Mission to become a vital link in the world's wholesale and retail markets, supplying what it bills as the World's Finest Avocados and the World's Finest Mangos.

The company has a wide customer base, not just in retail and wholesale but also in foodservice, and serves 25 countries. Mission boasts over 4,000 hectares of avocado and mango growing land, in California, Peru, Colombia, Guatemala, and South Africa, and also has five packinghouses located in the US, Mexico, Peru, and Guatemala. Mission sells billions of avocados and mangos every year, and boasts a billion-dollar market cap.

Mission has been moving to expand its fruit portfolio, and in May of this year the company completed its acquisition of the North American produce grower Calavo, a company that supplies fresh avocados – as well as such items as tomatoes, papayas, and value-added prepared foods such as guacamole. The acquisition strengthens Mission's avocado position, and puts the company in a strong place to start providing prepared foods. The transaction, conducted in cash and stock, values Calavo at approximately $430 million.

The company is vulnerable to fluctuations in produce commodity prices, and a recent drop in avocado prices hurt Mission in its fiscal 2Q26 report. Revenue, at $290.9 million, was down nearly 24% year-over-year, although it beat the forecast by $34.6 million. The company's adjusted net income, at a penny per share, came in 4 cents below expectations. And revenue wasn't the only thing down 24% – AVO shares have fallen by the same amount since peaking in April.

Turning to the insiders, two significant buying sprees stand out over the past two weeks. First, Board Director Bruce Taylor scooped up 700,000 AVO shares through five separate transactions, investing a total of $7.9 million in the stock. The second came from fellow Director Jay Pack, who acquired 226,000 shares for $2.55 million.

Those insiders aren't the only ones who see value in the shares. Roth analyst Gerry Sweeney believes the recent weakness has created an attractive entry point.

"Mother Nature threw AVO a curveball in F2Q with a historically large crop out of Mexico that drove down ASPs and, combined with harvest timing out of California, created a fruit sizing mismatch that pressured margins. These headwinds are self-correcting, and alongside the completion of the Calavo acquisition, we see AVO as a highly attractive opportunity. Calavo adds scale and new customer opportunities while improving cash flow, which should support deleveraging and buybacks," Sweeney noted.

To this end, Sweeney gives AVO shares a Buy rating, with a $17 price target that implies a one-year upside potential of 45%. (To watch Sweeney's track record, click here.)

Overall, AVO remains largely overlooked by Wall Street, with just two analyst reviews on file. That said, both analysts rate the stock a Buy, giving it a Moderate Buy consensus rating. With shares trading at $11.71 and the average price target standing at $17.50, both analysts see potential upside of 49% over the next 12 months. (See **AVO stock forecast**)
