The RMB central parity against USD was set at 6.8175, down 9 pips from the previous day. The People's Bank of China conducted RMB157.5 billion of seven-day reverse repos at an unchanged rate of 1.4%; meanwhile, RMB476.5 billion of reverse repos matured. In addition, the central bank carried out RMB300 billion of overnight reverse repos. The three major A-share indices opened broadly flat and showed mixed performance by midday. The Shanghai Composite Index rose 6 pts, or 0.17%, to 4,034, with turnover of RMB1.18 trillion. The Shenzhen Component Index fell 190 pts, or 1.21%, to 15,591, with turnover of RMB1.32 trillion. The ChiNext Index dropped 53 pts, or 1.28%, to 4,140, with turnover of RMB647.827 billion. Among mainland banks, ICBC (601398.SH) +0.090 (+1.259%) rose 1.3%, CCB (601939.SH) +0.030 (+0.307%) gained 0.3%, and CMB (600036.SH) +0.590 (+1.639%) added 1.6%. Insurers advanced, with CHINA LIFE (601628.SH) +0.920 (+2.626%) up 2.6% and CHINA PACIFIC INSURANCE (601601.SH) +1.050 (+3.693%) up 3.7%. BYD Company (002594.SZ) +2.060 (+2.634%) climbed 2.6%, while CONTEMPORARY AMPEREX (300750.SZ) +11.100 (+2.913%) increased 2.9%. In the chip sector, SMIC (688981.SH) -3.660 (-2.460%) fell 2.5%, while HUA HONG GRACE (688347.SH) +8.000 (+2.477%) rose 2.5%. AI chipmaker CAMBRICON (688256.SH) +10.600 (+0.727%) edged up 0.7%. Domestic GPU makers METAX (688802.SH) +55.650 (+7.619%) and MOORE THREADS (688795.SH) +23.470 (+3.489%) surged 7.6% and 3.5%, respectively. LQKJ (688008.SH) +18.190 (+6.948%) jumped nearly 7%. Optical fibre producer YANGTZE OPTICAL FIBRE (601869.SH) -29.010 (-5.343%) slid 5.3%. Memory chip firm GIGADEVICE (603986.SH) +18.360 (+2.384%) gained 2.4%. WULIANGYE (000858.SZ) +1.440 (+1.968%) announced that Zeng Congqin stepped down as chairman due to inability to perform duties, and Deng Min was elected as the new chairman. Its shares rose nearly 2% by midday. Pharmaceutical stocks performed strongly. HAINAN HAIYAO (000566.SZ) +0.410 (+9.927%) , WANBANG PHARMACEUTICAL (301520.SZ) +4.710 (+20.000%) , COSUNTER (300436.SZ) +17.760 (+20.000%) and BALANCE MEDICAL (688198.SH) +15.120 (+20.000%) all hit the daily limit-up. "Pharma heavyweight" HENGRUI PHARMA (600276.SH) +3.940 (+8.095%) surged 8.1%, while YILING PHARMACEUTICAL (002603.SZ) +0.830 (+5.662%) climbed 5.7%.
