Zeekr, the premium EV brand under Geely Auto (HKEX: 0175), said the five-seat version of its flagship Zeekr 9X SUV (sport utility vehicle) will open for pre-sales on July 8. Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) has opened pre-sales for the five-seat version of its large ES8 SUV, with the official launch set for July 9. The Zeekr 9X was officially launched in September 2025 at a starting price of 465,900 yuan ($68,620). It is the first hybrid model from the Zeekr brand. The model is built on the super hybrid variant of Geely's Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA), and uses a full-stack 900-volt hybrid high-voltage system. Its higher-end versions are equipped with a tri-motor megawatt electric drive system, with peak output power reaching 1,030 kilowatts (1,381 hp). Backed by the powerful drive system, the full-size luxury SUV can accelerate from zero to 100 kph in 3.1 seconds. The Zeekr 9X is a key model in the brand's push into the luxury car market. As of May, the model had ranked No. 1 in sales among large SUVs priced at the 500,000-yuan level in China for seven consecutive months. In the segment above 500,000 yuan, one in every three luxury vehicles sold is a Zeekr 9X, Zeekr said earlier this month. The model's average transaction price exceeds 530,000 yuan, a very expensive level for a product from a local Chinese automaker. Monthly data show that the Zeekr 9X has maintained strong delivery momentum. The model delivered 10,191 units in March 2026, its highest monthly figure to date. In the first half, Zeekr delivered 178,370 vehicles cumulatively, up 96.57% year-on-year. As of the end of June, the brand's cumulative deliveries had reached 821,259 units.
