description: "UBS analyst Alex Kramm maintained a Hold rating on CME Group but lowered the price target from $310 to $260. The cut reflects weaker-than-expected futures volumes and softer pricing in interest rate and energy contracts, which pressure transaction revenues. While acknowledging solid activity in IRS clearing and BrokerTec, Kramm cited competitive threats like perpetual futures and regulatory risks as concerns for volume growth durability. Barclays also maintained a Hold rating with a $316 target."

Alex Kramm has given his Hold rating due to a combination of factors tied to CME’s recent operating trends and outlook. He trimmed his near‑term earnings forecast after June data showed weaker-than-expected futures volumes and slightly softer pricing, particularly in interest rate and energy contracts, which pressure transaction revenues despite overall growth versus last year.

At the same time, he acknowledges solid activity in areas like IRS clearing and BrokerTec, but remains cautious about the durability of volume growth amid emerging competitive threats such as perpetual futures and regulatory risks. Reflecting this more measured stance, he cut his price target from $310 to $260 by applying a lower earnings multiple, resulting in valuation that supports a Neutral (Hold) view rather than a more aggressive rating.

In another report released today, Barclays also maintained a Hold rating on the stock with a $316.00 price target.
