# Microsoft cuts 4,800 employees, accounting for approximately 2.1% of the company's global workforce

Microsoft announced the layoff of 4,800 employees, accounting for approximately 2.1% of the company's global workforce.

Most of the affected employees are in the company's business and Xbox divisions. The company explained that the changes in the business segment continue the restructuring model of the newly established "Frontier Company" from last week. Regarding Xbox, an internal email indicated that a total of 3,200 employees would be laid off, with half included in this round of layoffs. Additionally, 1,600 people will gradually leave during the fiscal year 2027.

In April of this year, Microsoft announced a voluntary departure program for approximately 9,000 employees
