# CuriosityStream Gains Full Ownership of German Operations

CuriosityStream ( (CURI) ) just unveiled an announcement.

On July 7, 2026, CuriosityStream Inc. completed the acquisition of the remaining ownership interests in its German operations from longtime partners SPIEGEL TV and Autentic, giving the U.S.-based factual media group full control of its largest non-English-speaking market. The move follows a joint venture launched in 2021 to grow the Curiosity brand across Germany, Austria and Switzerland, with Saevar Lemke continuing as General Manager to ensure operational continuity.

With sole ownership of the German business, CuriosityStream will fully integrate assets including the Curiosity Stream subscription service, Curiosity Channel, SPIEGEL Geschichte and the Curiosity Now FAST channel into its global platform. Management expects the transaction to streamline operations and unlock new revenue opportunities by leveraging the company’s technology, content, advertising, distribution and AI licensing capabilities, further strengthening its international footprint and positioning its German operations for long-term growth.
