# SMIC rises over 5% as hard tech sector rallies

SMIC (981.HK) climbed more than 5% to HK$83.150 during regular trading.

The move followed a 2% advance in the Hang Seng Tech Index to 4,825.79 points at the open, lifting the broader hard technology sector. Hua Hong Semiconductor rose more than 8%, while Lenovo Group and other tech names also gained. The Huabao ETF tracking the CSI HK Stock Connect Information Technology Index surged over 4%, with assets growing to HK$1.787 billion and net inflows of HK$122 million on the day.
