# Thailand to invest $1.99B in AI, electronics, aviation, clean energy amid supply chain updates

Thailand has approved nine major investment projects worth a combined $1.99 billion across artificial intelligence (AI), advanced electronics, aviation, clean energy, and food, as global manufacturers reposition supply chains across Southeast Asia.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) said the approvals were given at a recent meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas.

The largest portion covers advanced electronics and AI infrastructure. Japan’s Datasection will invest $235.2 million to establish high-performance GPU server infrastructure for data hosting in Bangkok and Pathum Thani. South Korea’s Doosan Electro-Materials will invest $180.2 million in Samut Prakan to manufacture copper-clad laminate and prepreg for printed circuit boards.

Taiwan Union Technology will invest $189.2 million in Chonburi to manufacture CCL and prepreg specifically for AI servers and data centres. Fulltech Fiber Glass will invest $99.4 million in Chachoengsao to produce specialised glass fibre fabric for PCB manufacturing.

In consumer goods, Switzerland’s Nestlé is committing $688.7 million to expand coffee production facilities in Samut Prakan targeting domestic and regional Southeast Asian markets.

Thai Airways International secured approvals totaling $430.2 million to lease eight passenger aircraft for its international flight networks.

Regarding clean energy, Lomrak Green Energy will invest $168.7 million in two wind power projects in Lopburi province delivering a combined 120 MW.

Narit Therdsteerasukdi, Secretary General of the BOI, said the investments by leading multinationals signal strong global confidence in Thailand’s industrial capacity, connecting the economy directly to next-generation global technology. The government is aligning resource management with its green transition goals to ensure long-term operational security for global investors, he added.
