# Walmart Super-Sizes Wellness Vision with Weight Watchers International Deal

Walmart's (WMT) Sam's Club has teamed up with Weight Watchers International (WW) to boost its wellness offering to Americans as they think more about their lifestyles and health.

## **Benefits for Both Businesses**

The retail giant said that the new collaboration would create a "more connected, affordable wellness experience." The tie-up means customers of both companies will receive expert guidance and nutrition counseling with access to affordable healthy foods and pharmacy services.

Myron Frazier, Chief Merchant, Sam's Club, said: "At Sam's Club, our purpose is to help people save money and live better. This collaboration with Weight Watchers extends that commitment by making trusted, science-backed weight health support more affordable and accessible for our members."

Under the collaboration, Sam's Club Plus members may receive a complimentary three-month Weight Watchers Core membership worth $54. All Sam's Club members will also have access to special pricing on Weight Watchers Core+ and Med+ programs, with savings of up to 50% off everyday pricing.

Scott Honken, PharmD, Chief Commercial Officer, Weight Watchers, said: "This new collaboration between Weight Watchers and Sam's Club opens up access to trusted wellness expertise, value and convenience to help members take meaningful steps toward their wellness goals, whether they are focused on nutrition, weight management, medication support or overall well-being."

## **Walmart's Wellness Surge**

Walmart is increasingly focusing on wellness as another benefit to offer its customers. Earlier this month it said it was launching its Walmart Wellness Day on July 25 offering customers around the country free health screenings and assessments, low-cost immunizations, pharmacist counseling and vision screenings at its stores.

This year's event, it added, will focus on overall wellness while also including weight-management resources such as GLP-1 education, nutrition guidance, medication support, information on same-day pharmacy delivery, and virtual care through its Better Care Services offering.

Back in April this year Walmart said it was expanding its care services to include weight management for the millions of Americans turning to medication to control the pounds. The company said it was expanding its Better Care Services platform with new offerings to bring together virtual care, nutrition services and pharmacy access.
