# ABC, CCB Dismiss Rumors of SOE Banks Offering High-interest Deposits to Lure Customers

Fraudsters have recently impersonated major state-owned banks by posting fake high-interest advertisements such as "deposit RMB1 million and enjoy 5.25% interest" on third-party platforms and social media channels, according to a report by 21st Century Business Herald.

After luring consumers to add WeChat contacts, they allegedly promoted overseas insurance and investment products to earn commissions or even conduct fraud.

In response, ABC (01288.HK) \-0.050 (-0.903%) Short selling $76.09M; Ratio 30.644% and CCB (00939.HK) \-0.090 (-1.095%) Short selling $616.42M; Ratio 45.064% said after verification that there are no such deposit products and the related promotions are false. They also reminded consumers to stay alert to return promises significantly above market levels, and to use official channels such as bank branches, official websites and official apps. Consumers were also advised not to click on suspicious links or disclose personal information such as ID numbers and verification codes, in order to prevent financial losses.
