# SpaceX has fallen for 4 consecutive days, nearing the IPO issue price, with short positions showing a paper profit of nearly 3.9 billion dollars

According to the Zhitong Finance APP, as the highly anticipated new round of test flights for the "Starship" rocket and the first quarterly report after going public approach, SpaceX (SPCX.US) stock price continues to be under pressure, with short interest profits expanding. Data shows that as the stock price falls near the IPO issuance price, short interest profits have approached $3.9 billion.

According to data compiled by S3 Partners, as of now, the paper profits of investors shorting SpaceX have increased to $3.88 billion. The company's stock price is currently hovering around $135 per share, roughly in line with the initial public offering (IPO) price. On Wednesday, during trading, SpaceX's stock price briefly fell to $132.15, marking the fourth consecutive trading day of decline.

Data indicates that short sellers have recently continued to increase their bets. Currently, approximately 181 million shares of SpaceX stock have been sold short, accounting for about 28% of the float, a relatively high level among newly listed companies.

Ihor Dusaniwsky, Managing Director of S3 Partners, stated that the recent weakness in stock prices and the impending expiration of the lock-up period for listed shares are the main reasons driving the continued expansion of short positions. He said, "The recent weakness in stock prices has prompted more investors to establish short positions, while the market is also preemptively positioning for potential selling pressure after the lock-up period ends."

Data shows that since reaching a closing high on June 16, SpaceX's stock price has fallen by about one-third, with the company's market value evaporating by approximately $860 billion.

In the coming days, the market's focus will shift to SpaceX's 13th test flight mission for the "Starship" rocket, which could take place as soon as this Thursday. The results of this test flight are considered an important catalyst that will influence market sentiment.

Meanwhile, over the past week, investors have further increased their bearish bets on SpaceX. Data shows that approximately 37 million shares have been newly shorted, corresponding to a market value of about $5 billion.

In addition to the rocket test flight, the market is also closely watching SpaceX's first quarterly report after going public, which is expected to be released in the coming weeks. After the report is published, some shares held by pre-IPO shareholders will face their first unlock, with millions of shares gradually entering the market, potentially exacerbating stock price volatility due to the new supply.

Market participants believe that with the interplay of multiple factors such as test flight results, earnings performance, and large-scale unlocks, SpaceX's stock price volatility may further intensify in the short term, and the tug-of-war between bulls and bears will continue to heat up
