# Taiwan Semiconductor's profits exceed high expectations, further evidence of sustained AI demand

Taiwan Semiconductor's quarterly profits exceeded expectations, highlighting the strong demand for global artificial intelligence computing.

As a major chip manufacturer for NVIDIA and Apple, the company reported a net profit of NT$706.6 billion (US$22 billion) for the second quarter, surpassing the average expectation of NT$623.7 billion. The company's revenue for the quarter grew by 36% to NT$1.27 trillion.

This steady growth underscores Taiwan Semiconductor's core position in producing the world's most advanced chips required for data centers and smartphones. As the highest-valued company in Asia, Taiwan Semiconductor is seen as a bellwether for giants like Meta Platforms in the global push for AI infrastructure, with these companies likely to spend over US$72.5 billion this year. However, investors now face concerns over high stock valuations and whether Meta and its competitors are building computing capacity beyond future needs.

Many industry leaders, including Taiwan Semiconductor, deny this. Taiwan Semiconductor CEO C.C. Wei stated in June that even with new production capacity coming online in the U.S., the company would not be able to meet the enterprise demand driven by American customers
