# IPG Photonics to Acquire Lumibird Medical Laser Business

IPG Photonics ( (IPGP) ) has shared an announcement.

On July 16, 2026, IPG Photonics announced a binding offer to acquire Lumibird Medical for €300 million on a cash-free, debt-free basis, with up to €50 million in additional contingent earnout tied to 2026 and 2027 performance. The deal, funded with cash on hand and expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026 subject to customary conditions, would add roughly $1 billion to IPG’s addressable market for Advanced Solutions.

The transaction is positioned to create a scaled medical laser platform by combining Lumibird Medical’s ophthalmology leadership with IPG’s strength in urology, aiming to accelerate innovation and broaden commercial reach in medical lasers. IPG expects the high-margin Lumibird Medical business, which has demonstrated sales growth and EBITDA margin expansion, to be accretive to gross margin, EBITDA and adjusted EPS, strengthening the company’s long-term growth profile and value creation potential.
