# General Motors Will Report Q2 Earnings on July 21. Here's What to Expect

Legacy automaker General Motors (GM) will report its fiscal second-quarter results before the market opens on July 21. Wall Street expects double-digit growth in earnings despite a modest decline in sales. Earlier this month, GM reported that its Q2 U.S. sales decreased 4.2% year-over-year, reflecting weaker demand for electric vehicles (EVs) and lower Chevrolet Silverado sales.

GM sold 714,896 vehicles in the second quarter, down from 746,588 a year earlier. In the first half of the year, the company sold 1.3 million vehicles, a 6.8% decline compared with the same period last year.

The Street forecasts GM to post adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $3.20, up 26.5% from $2.53 reported in Q2 FY25, while revenue is expected to decline to $47.01 billion.

## **Options Traders Brace for Impact**

According to TipRanks' Options Traders Tool, options traders expect a 6.06% move in either direction for GM stock in reaction to Q2 results. This implied move is higher than the stock's average post-earnings move (in absolute terms) of 4.19% over the past four quarters.

Notably, GM has beaten earnings expectations in each of the past eight quarters, raising hopes for another quarterly beat.
