# The Japanese yen continues to weaken, and Apple has raised the price of the iPhone 17 in Japan by 10%

The yen exchange rate continues to hover at a 40-year low, and Apple has raised the prices of iPhones and some other products in the Japanese market.

On Saturday morning, Apple's Japanese official website showed that the starting price for the 256GB base model iPhone 17 is 142,800 yen (equivalent to $879.29), up from the previously recorded price of 129,800 yen, an increase of about 10%.

The current price for the same storage version of the iPhone 17 Pro is 194,800 yen, an increase of 8.3% compared to the previous price of 179,800 yen. Other products such as Apple Watch and AirPods have also seen price increases, with some models rising by the same 10%.

An Apple spokesperson in Japan did not respond to inquiries regarding this price adjustment.

With the yen remaining weak for an extended period, many local retailers in Japan have been forced to raise prices on imported goods, making Apple's price adjustment not an isolated case.

Just three weeks ago, affected by a long-term shortage of storage chips, the Cupertino-based company raised prices globally for Mac, iPad, home devices, and VisionPro, while iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch prices did not increase at that time. There are currently no signs that Apple will raise iPhone prices in markets outside of Japan
