# NIO's Chip Subsidiary Shenji Makes Independent Debut at WAIC, Targeting AI Markets Beyond Automotive

NIO's chip business is beginning to expand beyond the automotive sector.

On July 17, at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), NIO's chip subsidiary, Anhui Shenji Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Shenji"), participated in the event for the first time as an independent company.

In addition to showcasing the NX9031X chip, which has already been mass-produced and applied in vehicles under the NIO and Onvo brands, Shenji also launched the "Ruidong" Embodied AI Development Platform and the Distributed Agent Platform, extending its product portfolio into the fields of embodied intelligence and agent inference.

This shift signifies that Shenji is transitioning from a chip company primarily serving NIO's intelligent driving operations to an independent supplier targeting the broader AI market.

Established in June 2025, Shenji has secured nearly RMB 3 billion in financing to date and formed a product matrix including the NX9031X, NX9031U, and NX9031C, covering areas such as intelligent assisted driving, embodied intelligence, and agent inference.

Among these, the high-end NX9031X chip is primarily designed for intelligent assisted driving and has been deployed across all vehicle models under the NIO and Onvo brands, with cumulative shipments exceeding 300,000 units. The large-scale mass production in the automotive sector has also laid the foundation for Shenji's external expansion.

The newly released "Ruidong" Embodied AI Development Platform is powered by the mid-range NX9031U chip. Built on a 5nm automotive-grade process, it can run large models required for robot perception and autonomous planning, providing a computing platform for robots.

Shenji aims to leverage its experience in intelligent assisted driving as a differentiating advantage to enter AI application markets such as high-end robotics, unmanned logistics vehicles, and high-computing-power terminals.

Although the application scenarios for intelligent driving and embodied intelligence differ, both require processing environmental perception, real-time decision-making, and motion control, imposing similar demands on chip computing power, power consumption, and reliability. This allows for certain transferability of capabilities accumulated in automotive chips.

The Distributed Agent Platform corresponds to agent inference scenarios. Shenji hopes to provide underlying computing power support for agent applications on various terminals through a unified chip platform and software ecosystem.

In recent years, an increasing number of automakers have intensified their efforts in in-house chip development, but most related products remain centered around their own vehicle businesses.

The signal sent by Shenji's independent participation in WAIC is that NIO hopes to further promote its self-developed chips, which have already passed mass-production verification, to the external market, seeking new customers and commercialization opportunities for its chip business.
