# Chinese robot maker AgiBot targets a listing in Hong Kong’s booming market

Fast-growing Chinese robot maker AgiBot is pursuing an initial public offering in Hong Kong and has hired Citic Securities as a sponsor, according to two people familiar with the matter. Additionally, China International Capital Corporation (CICC) and Morgan Stanley have also been tapped as joint sponsors, one of the people said. Shanghai-based AgiBot had shown signs that it was looking to list following its restructuring from a limited liability company to a joint-stock limited firm last year, an essential step for firms preparing to go public. AgiBot, Citic, CICC and Morgan Stanley did not immediately respond for comment on Wednesday. AgiBot had been eyeing a Hong Kong listing this year, targeting a valuation of HK$40 billion (US$5.10 billion) to HK$50 billion, Reuters reported in 2025. The Shanghai-based robot developer has joined a new wave of listing candidates targeting the Hong Kong stock market, including online retail giant Shein and optical transceiver maker Zhongji Innolight. Innolight’s IPO, potentially the city’s biggest listing in seven years, attracted more than 30 cornerstone investors and aimed to raise US$8 billion, followed by a debut on July 30, the South China Morning Post reported on Tuesday. The updates came as Hong Kong’s IPO market hit a five-year high in terms of both total funds raised and the number of listings in the first six months of 2026, during which the IPOs raised HK$210 billion. This was up 92 per cent, while the number of new listings almost doubled to 87 from a year earlier, according to PwC Hong Kong. AgiBot has also expanded its influence on the mainland stock market. Late last year, it completed the acquisition of a controlling stake in Shanghai-listed Swancor Advanced Materials for more than 2 billion yuan (US$295.24 million). At that time, AgiBot denied that the purchase was intended for a back door listing. The company is one of the fastest-growing robot makers in China, shipping 5,168 humanoid robots last year, followed by rival Unitree Robotics’ 4,200 units, according to data from industry intelligence firm Omdia. Unitree’s own data said that it shipped more than 5,500 humanoid models. AgiBot is accelerating its mass production, targeting shipments of 40,000 this year, company partner and co-president Jiang Qingsong told local media outlet Jiemian in May. A number of China’s emerging robot developers are scheduled to go public including Unitree, which secured approval from the country’s securities regulator for a Shanghai listing earlier this month. The robot maker, which generated 1.7 billion yuan in revenue and 591 million yuan in adjusted profit last year, plans to raise about 4.2 billion yuan to boost its development and manufacturing. Meanwhile, IPO applications from Leju Robotics and Deep Robotics have been accepted by the bourses in Shenzhen and Shanghai, respectively.
