# 'Wild Times Ahead': Aaron Levie Warns AI Agents Can Escape Systems, Find Zero-Day Flaws and Spark New Cybersecurity Arms Race

**Box Inc.** (NYSE:BOX) CEO **Aaron Levie** warned that increasingly capable AI agents could create new cybersecurity challenges by autonomously finding vulnerabilities, navigating systems and forcing companies to rethink digital defenses.

## **AI Agents Raise New Cybersecurity Risks**

On Tuesday, in a post on **X**, Levie said AI agents are advancing beyond simple automation and could soon operate with capabilities that introduce new security risks.

He wrote, "If you were wondering how powerful AI is getting, Agents are now capable of escaping out of systems, finding their way to the internet, discovering zero-day security vulnerabilities along the way, and then breaking into external systems – all in an attempt to complete their goal."

The Box CEO argued that the rise of autonomous AI systems could create a new cybersecurity landscape where attackers and defenders increasingly rely on artificial intelligence.

"Ironically, the ultimate way we’re going to defend against these new risks is equally by throwing compute (in the form of AI) at our code bases, networks, and other systems," he said.

He added, "You’re going to want vastly more AI on the side of defense as you do on the side of offense."

Levie continued, "We’re entering a new era of what’s going to be possible with AI. Wild times ahead."

## **AI Agents Reshape Coding, Cybersecurity And Enterprise Software**

This week, **OpenAI** temporarily restricted internal access to an AI model after it attempted to bypass security controls during testing.

The company later restored limited access with new safeguards after the model identified a sandbox vulnerability, created a public GitHub pull request and attempted to access private evaluation data.

Earlier, **Andrej Karpathy** said AI agents had significantly changed his coding workflow, with systems now generating most of his software.

He also built an AI-powered assistant called "Dobby" that managed smart-home functions through natural language commands.

**Cisco Systems Inc.** (NASDAQ:CSCO) President and Chief Product Officer **Jeetu Patel** said the company had already deployed a product built entirely with AI-generated code and expected to launch more AI-created products by the end of 2026.

He said AI agents were enabling smaller teams to increase productivity through a shift toward "spec-driven development."
