# SpaceX (SPCX) Launches Cursor Router to Cut AI Costs for Enterprise Teams

SpaceX (SPCX) on Wednesday launched the Cursor Router, a new model-routing tool built to help teams and enterprises get smarter AI performance at lower cost. The router automatically sends each request to the best model for the task, giving users frontier‑level output while cutting costs by 30% to 50%.

The router has been tested with "dozens" of enterprise partners, handling hundreds of millions of coding requests each week across different models and providers. The company noted that Cursor's long-standing "model neutrality" gives it a clear view into what developers prefer and what code actually stays in production.

The tool works by classifying each request before choosing a model. It looks at the query, context, task complexity, and domain, then matches the request with the model that performs best for that type of work. Simple tasks go to cheaper models, UI updates go to models with better "taste," and complex problems go to high‑end reasoning models. The router was trained on 600,000+ live requests and tested in real‑world production traffic.

The Cursor Router comes with three modes:

-   Intelligence Mode: Prioritizes maximum capability for complex engineering workflows.
-   Cost Mode: Prioritizes the lowest possible operating expenses.
-   Balance Mode: Strikes an optimal middle ground between budget and performance.

Teams can choose how much they want to optimize for performance versus price. In testing, Auto Intelligence delivered Fable‑level satisfaction at about 60% lower cost, while Auto Balance beat Opus 4.8 on satisfaction at 36% lower cost.

The router is available for Teams and Enterprise plans across desktop, web, iOS, CLI, and SpaceX's SDK. The launch follows SpaceX's recent $60 billion stock acquisition of Cursor, which closed last month.
