Americold Realty ( (COLD) ) has issued an announcement.

On July 21, 2026, Americold Realty Trust agreed with ADUSA Distribution, a unit of Ahold Delhaize USA, to wind down operations at its automated retail distribution center in Lancaster, Pa., by December 31, 2026, with an option to extend by six months, and not to commence operations at its Plainville, Conn., automated retail fulfillment center, which will be idled except for short-term ice production. No termination fees or penalties were imposed, both parties granted a mutual release of claims, and they plan to expand and renew business at other Americold assets, while the company intends to classify the two facilities, with a combined net book value of about $455 million as of June 30, 2026, as held for sale in the third quarter and expects to book a non-cash impairment charge of approximately $305 million to $320 million in the second quarter, a move it does not anticipate will affect its previously issued full-year 2026 outlook.

Americold is marketing the Lancaster and Plainville facilities for sale and may also consider alternatives such as continued ownership, redevelopment, or remediation, though it cannot yet estimate future cash outlays associated with any such actions. Management emphasized that the facilities’ operating results have not been material to the company’s financial statements, and the planned wind-down and impairment are not expected to alter its 2026 guidance, suggesting limited near-term earnings impact but highlighting ongoing strategic reshaping of its network and customer relationships.

**Spark’s Take on COLD Stock**

According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, COLD is a Neutral.

The score is driven primarily by mixed financial performance: steady operating cash generation but ongoing net losses, negative ROE, rising leverage, and uneven free cash flow. Offsetting this, the latest earnings call and related actions point to a clearer deleveraging path via the EQT JV and meaningful cost reductions, while technicals are neutral-to-soft in the near term. Valuation is supported by a high dividend yield, but a negative P/E reflects the continued profitability challenge.
