# QUICK SPARK: Global X Rebrands KRMA Into CPTL, Powered By Morningstar's New Capital Allocation Index

**Global X** has overhauled its **Global X Conscious Companies ETF**, renaming it the **Global X Morningstar Capital Allocation Leaders ETF (NASDAQ:CPTL)** and replacing its ESG-focused benchmark with Morningstar’s newly launched **US Capital Allocation Leaders Index**.

The revamped ETF now targets U.S. mid- and large-cap companies whose management teams earn Morningstar’s highest **Capital Allocation Rating**, a forward-looking assessment of how effectively executives deploy capital through investment decisions, balance sheet management and shareholder distributions. The fund’s expense ratio has also been cut to 0.35% from 0.43%.

### **QUICK CONTEXT: Active Research Meets Passive Investing**

The launch reflects a growing trend of ETF issuers incorporating proprietary research into index construction rather than relying solely on traditional market-cap weighting. Morningstar’s new index is built on analyst-driven qualitative assessments of management quality, focusing on whether executives allocate capital in ways that can sustain long-term shareholder returns.

For Global X, the change also marks a strategic pivot away from the fund’s previous conscious investing mandate toward a factor-based strategy centered on corporate capital discipline. The move comes as asset managers increasingly look to differentiate passive products with research-backed methodologies that aim to identify companies capable of generating durable shareholder value across market cycles.
