Yemen's Houthi forces claimed attacks on two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea. Brent oil futures surged above USD100 per barrel, reaching a near two-month high. Market concerns over inflation intensified, with the yield on the US 10-year Treasury rising to around 4.7%, the highest since January 2025. The US also imposed new tariffs ranging from 10% to 12.5% on 60 countries or regions, weighing on market sentiment. China's three major A-share indices opened lower this morning (24th). The Shanghai Composite Index opened down 23 points or 0.6% at 3,853. The Shenzhen Component Index opened down 208 points or 1.5% at 13,915. The ChiNext Index opened down 60 points or 1.7% at 3,515. Major financial stocks traded mixed at the open. ICBC (601398.SH) +0.070 (+0.911%) and CMB (600036.SH) +0.190 (+0.488%) opened 0.7% to 1% higher, while CCB (601939.SH) +0.060 (+0.586%) opened flat. PING AN OF CHINA (601318.SH) \-0.470 (-0.866%) opened 0.5% higher, while CHINA LIFE (601628.SH) \-0.800 (-1.917%) opened 0.4% lower. Chip testing company Lianxun Instrument opened nearly 2% lower amid reports that the company plans to apply for an H-share listing. Its share price has cumulatively surged about 22 times since its STAR Market listing in April. International gold prices retreated more than 2% overnight from a two-week high, dragging gold mining stocks lower. ZIJIN MINING (601899.SH) \-1.350 (-4.083%) , ZHONGJIN GOLD (600489.SH) \-0.500 (-2.227%) and SHANDONG GOLD (600547.SH) \-0.760 (-2.772%) opened 3.7% to 4.7% lower.
