# Analyst Reiterates Hold on AEP as Shares Trade Above $133 Price Target Despite Modest EPS Growth Outlook

Ross Fowler, an analyst from Bank of America Securities, reiterated the Hold rating on American Electric Power. The associated price target is $133.00.

Ross Fowler has given his Hold rating due to a combination of factors, including a modest earnings outlook and valuation that already reflects much of the upside. He expects AEP’s Q2 2026 operating EPS to rise slightly versus last year, driven primarily by growth in vertically integrated utility operations and incremental contributions from transmission and distribution businesses.

However, this earnings improvement is partially offset by rising operating costs, higher depreciation, and increased interest expense as the company executes a sizable capital plan. While he anticipates management will reaffirm its long-term growth objectives and sees realistic prospects for higher returns on equity, the current share price exceeds his $133 price objective, limiting near-term appreciation potential and supporting a Neutral (Hold) stance.

In another report released on July 22, BMO Capital also assigned a Hold rating to the stock with a $139.00 price target.
