Drugs giant AstraZeneca (AZN) is set to report its Q2 earnings next week – July 27. Let's look at what investors should expect.

The company's share price is down 11% in the last three months hit by the unexpected failure of nerve drug Wainua in a late-stage heart disease trial. That turned attention on the firm's drug R&D pipeline in particular two late-stage trials of breast cancer study SERENA-4 and lung cancer ‌trial AVANZAR.

Wall Street analysts expect AZN to post an earnings per share of $2.48 for the period, up on the $2.17 it reported for the same period last year. Revenues are tipped to come in at $15.44 billion, up from $14.4 billion in the same period last year.
