# Top 20 U.S. Stock Trading Volumes on July 25: Tesla Faces Largest Weekly Decline Since 2022

On Friday, Micron Technology, the top stock by trading volume in the U.S. market, fell 6.90%, with a trading volume of $37.329 billion. Micron's stock declined as investors took profits after this week's gains, while increased competition from Chinese memory chip manufacturers put pressure on the stock.

Earlier this week, Micron had seen a significant rise after Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated during the company's second-quarter earnings call that the automaker had secured a large supply of memory chips from Micron on favorable terms. However, the gains were reversed as traders reassessed the outlook for the memory chip market.

Chinese memory producers continue to expand their market share, raising questions about the future competitive landscape of the server memory market. Additionally, some bearish analysts have commented that DRAM pricing may soften as the costs of AI computing evolve.

Micron's stock price has corrected after recent gains, but Wall Street analysts remain generally optimistic about the company's long-term prospects.

NVIDIA, in second place, fell 0.92%, with a trading volume of $23.734 billion. To address the explosive growth in demand for AI infrastructure and strengthen the domestic semiconductor supply chain in the U.S., chip giant NVIDIA has reached a strategic cooperation agreement worth $1.5 billion with Amkor Technology, a major packaging and testing company.

Under the agreement, NVIDIA will provide Amkor with an advance payment to support its expansion of advanced packaging and testing capacity in the U.S., particularly in Arizona. The two companies will jointly develop advanced packaging technologies for next-generation AI and accelerated computing platforms, focusing on key areas such as high-density interconnects and heterogeneous integration, aiming to integrate different types of chips into a single package to enhance the performance and energy efficiency of AI processors.

Currently, advanced packaging has become a critical bottleneck for the performance and delivery of AI chips. In the context of supply shortages for capacities like TSMC's CoWoS, this collaboration is another strategic move by NVIDIA to ensure the shipment volume of its AI processors after securing supplies of key materials such as memory and glass substrates.

In third place, SanDisk fell 10.79%, with a trading volume of $20.437 billion. Susquehanna analyst Mehdi Hosseini lowered SanDisk's target price from $32.50 to $30.50 but maintained a "Buy" rating. The new target price implies about an 80% upside from the current stock price.

Hosseini stated that the target price reduction was primarily due to the company's correction of revenue and earnings per share forecast errors in its previous financial model. Additionally, there remains uncertainty regarding the storage architecture for AI inference applications—if AI companies adopt KV Cache offloading solutions, it would significantly boost enterprise SSD demand; conversely, if they continue to rely on DRAM/HBM, demand for SanDisk's flagship products will fall short of expectations.

Despite the target price reduction, Wall Street's overall rating for SanDisk remains "Strong Buy," with an average target price of approximately $23.68, suggesting over 40% upside potential in the next 12 months. Among the 24 analysts tracked by FactSet, 21 have given "Buy" or "Strong Buy" ratings Tesla, ranked 4th, fell 2.08%, with a trading volume of $19.412 billion. Tesla closed at $313.03 on Friday (July 24), down nearly 18% for the week, marking its worst weekly performance since 2022.

Famous investor Michael Burry stated that he is increasing his bearish bets on several tech stocks, adding to his short positions on NVIDIA and the VanEck Semiconductor ETF, while insisting that he has not closed his profitable short position on Tesla.

Burry is globally known for accurately predicting and shorting the 2008 U.S. subprime mortgage crisis and is the inspiration for the main character in the Oscar-winning film "The Big Short."

"I have not closed my short position on Tesla. It is shrinking on its own," Burry wrote in a new post on Substack on Friday.

The electric vehicle manufacturer's stock price plummeted 15% on Thursday following disappointing quarterly earnings. Burry had stated at the end of June that he shorted Tesla at a price of $416.22.

Intel, ranked 5th, fell 7.89%, with a trading volume of $17.238 billion. Intel announced its second-quarter earnings on Thursday, reporting total revenue of $16.1 billion and adjusted earnings per share of $0.42, both exceeding market expectations, marking the largest quarterly revenue increase in nearly 15 years, with third-quarter guidance also above institutional estimates.

The AI computing infrastructure boom has driven sales of server processors, with data center business revenue soaring 59% to $6.3 billion, and PC business revenue rising 13% year-on-year to $8.9 billion. The company has currently secured 10 long-term supply agreements, with tight capacity supply. Revenue from foundry services increased 31% year-on-year to $5.8 billion, with gross margin rebounding from 2.5% in the same period last year to 42%. Despite the impressive performance, Intel's stock price fell on Friday, down 28% in July, but still up over 170% year-to-date.

Apple, ranked 6th, rose 3.53%, with a trading volume of $15.664 billion. A recent report from market research firm Counterpoint Research indicates that the foldable smartphone market is expected to see a significant turning point in 2026, with Apple set to launch its first foldable iPhone in that year. The firm predicts that Apple could quickly capture 25% of the market share in its first year, becoming a key player in reshaping the competitive landscape.

Additionally, market news suggests that Apple is developing the next-generation MacBook Neo, which will be equipped with the A19 Pro chip. In terms of performance, the A19 Pro is approximately 10-15% faster than the A18 Pro in single-core and multi-core CPU tests. Reports indicate that the improvement in GPU performance is even more significant, with benchmark tests showing a performance increase of up to 40% for the A19 Pro.

AMD, ranked 7th, fell 3.29%, with a trading volume of $14.299 billion. On Friday, Bank of America Global Research raised AMD's target price from $560 to $620 The 13th ranked SpaceX fell 2.68%, with a transaction volume of $6.104 billion. The stock has accumulated a decline of 7.19% this week, marking the third consecutive week of losses.

Morgan Stanley analysts pointed out that the recent market sell-off of SpaceX shares has pushed its stock price close to a zero valuation for its artificial intelligence (AI) business. The firm believes that the current significant disconnect between market pessimism and the company's fundamentals provides an attractive positioning window for investors.

Since completing a record $86 billion initial public offering (IPO) in mid-June, SpaceX's stock price has been under pressure. After a brief surge in the early days of trading, the stock has been on a downward trend, hitting a low of $110.85 earlier this week, down 18% from the IPO issue price.

Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas emphasized in a recent report published on July 25 that many investors expect SpaceX's stock price to further dip to $100 per share as the first batch of lock-up shares is set to be released next month. He noted that if the stock price falls to that level, it would mean that investors are not only completely ignoring the value of its AI business but are even assigning a negative valuation.

Jonas reiterated his "Overweight" rating on SpaceX stock and maintained a target price of $300. In his sum-of-the-parts valuation, over 50% of the valuation comes from the company's AI business. He stated that most investors are significantly discounting AI assets such as Grok and Cursor under SpaceX, mainly due to concerns about high capital expenditures in the AI business, uncertainty in economic benefits, and the need for management to invest significant effort.

The 15th ranked Broadcom fell 2.69%, with a transaction volume of $5.591 billion. Major Wall Street banks have begun trading an initial portion of a $35 billion financing plan aimed at expanding AI infrastructure for Broadcom and Anthropic PBC. This also means that the largest private credit deal in history is now open to a broader group of investors.

According to informed sources, several banks, including Bank of America and Morgan Stanley, have been trading portions of the debt over the past week. These banks are part of a $24 billion joint underwriting team within the entire debt plan.

Additionally, other anonymous insiders revealed that Apollo Global Management has also been marketing this debt to institutional investors. The firm, in collaboration with Blackstone Group, arranged this $35 billion financing plan for the borrower, which is a special purpose vehicle (SPV) responsible for purchasing custom chips developed by Google and Broadcom and leasing them to Anthropic.

The 17th ranked NBIS fell 15.02%, with a transaction volume of $4.708 billion. NVIDIA submitted a Schedule 13G filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) this week, disclosing beneficial ownership of 22,256,400 Class A common shares of Nebius, representing a 9.3% ownership stake Documents show that this batch of shares includes 1,190,500 common shares of NVIDIA previously reported in the 13F filing for the quarter ending March 31, as well as a pre-paid convertible warrant for 21,065,900 shares.

At the same time, Northland has significantly raised Nebius's target price from $248 to $410, maintaining an "Outperform" rating, with a potential upside of over 124%. The firm uses a valuation framework similar to that of CoreWeave (CRWV.US) and expects Nebius to achieve approximately 14% market share in the $800 billion AI as a Service (AIaaS) market in the long term, with a terminal free cash flow profit margin estimated at 30%.

SK Hynix, ranked 20th, fell 8.81%, with a trading volume of $4.021 billion. South Korean semiconductor giants Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are preparing to announce several major AI collaboration agreements in Silicon Valley, involving long-term supply contracts for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips and investments in AI data centers. These agreements coincide with South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol's visit to San Francisco and attendance at the AI summit.
