# Stop Falling for the "AI Pivot": The 2026 Market’s Real Winners and Delusional Wannabes

I have seen the "transformational pivot" playbook too many times over the last decade to be fooled. In 2026, if you are a struggling company with a bleeding balance sheet, all you have to do is whisper "Artificial Intelligence" or "Humanoid Robots" into an earnings call and pray the trading algorithms save you. This is stupid and here is why: underneath the flashy PR and desperate restructurings, the actual adults in the room are quietly raking in cash, while the bottom-feeders are playing financial gymnastics just to stay listed.

Let's start with the delusional group, shall we? Freight Technologies **(FRGT.US)** had the absolute audacity to announce layoffs and a restructuring in July to push an "AI-native" pivot, scraping together a measly **USD 1.2M** through a Series C preferred share issuance. They are out here hawking an AI customs compliance platform while shrinking their core brokerage operations. Good luck with that.

Then there is YY Group **(YYGH.US)**, a Singapore-based facilities management and staffing firm that suddenly decided in June it wants to build commercial humanoid robots. Sure, why not? Let's have the janitorial staffing company pivot to Westworld. Coincidentally, they just pulled a **30-to-1** reverse stock split to dodge Nasdaq delisting. It is giving strong 1999 "add a .com to your name" energy, and retail investors are the ones left holding the bag.

Next Technology Holding **(NXTT.US)** is playing the exact same game, but with a crypto flavor. They posted a net loss of nearly **USD 30M** in Q2, having previously executed a comical **200-to-1** reverse split, and are issuing tens of millions of new shares like they are printing concert flyers. It is capital structure chaos.

But the truth, as always, is that the real money in major tech transitions is made by the highly unglamorous legacy businesses. Take Manulife Financial **(MFC.US)**. Instead of building fake AI, they expanded their deal with Microsoft to deploy Copilot across 30,000 employees. Surprise, surprise, they posted massive Q1 core earnings of **USD 1.8B**, and their stock recently **hit a 52-week high** after analysts piled on the upgrades.

Johnson Controls **(JCI.US)** is doing the exact same thing in the physical world. They launched Metasys 16.0, a high-performance building automation system catering precisely to the massive cooling and power needs of data centers. They posted strong Q2 numbers, raised their full-year guidance, and appointed new blood to the board. This is what actual, adult execution looks like.

Look at the companies quietly dominating their niches without the circus acts. TAL Education **(TAL.US)** has clawed its way back from the regulatory graveyard, smashing estimates with over **USD 800M** in Q4 revenue. They aren't just surviving; they are writing checks for a massive **USD 293M** funding round in an AI video startup, ShengShu. Lexicon Pharmaceuticals **(LXRX.US)** saw its Q1 revenue surge over **1,500%** to **USD 21.1M** thanks to a Novo Nordisk milestone for their obesity drug pipeline, pushing shares to **year-to-date highs** in June.

Even trade school operator Lincoln Educational Services **(LINC.US)** is printing money by doing the unglamorous work. With Q1 revenue jumping over **22%** to **USD 144M** and enrollment surging nearly **20%**, they are expanding campuses in Maryland. IQSTEL **(IQST.US)** posted a preliminary H1 revenue spike of nearly **60%**, crossing the **USD 207M** mark and setting up a new holding company structure for actual M&A, not just survival. And while indie Semiconductor **(INDI.US)** is tossing around buzzwords like "Edge AI for humanoids," they actually have the receipts: a **USD 25M** production order for radar chipsets in Q1 and a recent revenue bump.

Why aren't you moving faster to drop the losers in your portfolio? The dichotomy in 2026 is brutally clear. If you are betting on companies funding their "AI transformation" through reverse splits and layoffs, you deserve exactly what is coming to you. Stick with the pragmatic giants turning buzzwords into actual cash flow.
