# NVIDIA is in talks with OpenAI to provide a $250 billion financing guarantee for a data center project

NVIDIA (NVDA) is negotiating to provide approximately $250 billion in guarantees for OpenAI as part of a large-scale data center project, which will become one of the most ambitious financial transactions in the current AI boom in the United States.

According to informed sources, the guarantees provided by NVIDIA will help the ChatGPT developer lease a 10-gigawatt project developed by SoftBank (9434) in southern Ohio. The total cost of the project could exceed $500 billion, including the chips required for the data center. This will be the largest data center project announced to date.

The project's power is controlled by the U.S. government and is funded separately by Japan under a recent trade agreement. Some sources indicate that Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo is involved in the decision-making process regarding who will receive the power
