At the same time, the two companies are advancing a joint project with American private equity firm Brookfield, with a total financing amount of up to $9 billion, planning to build gigawatt (GW) level AI cloud data centers in South Korea and the United States to support the development of the next generation of AI enterprises. According to regulatory documents submitted by Naver on Monday, the company will issue 7.2 million new shares at a price of 204,500 Korean won per share, with NVIDIA as the sole subscriber investing approximately 1.481 trillion Korean won (about $1.01 billion). After the transaction is completed, NVIDIA will hold approximately 4.5% of Naver's equity. To further enhance shareholder returns, Naver announced on the same day that it will cancel treasury shares worth 1.017 trillion Korean won in August. Boosted by this news, Naver's stock price rose 8.2% in early trading on Monday, narrowing its cumulative decline for the year to 7.4%. The funds raised will be primarily used to finance Naver's AI factory project and the expansion of related computing infrastructure. According to the cooperation plan, Brookfield has signed a non-binding letter of intent to provide up to $9 billion in financing for the data center project, with the remaining funding needs to be filled by Naver itself. The facility will be fully equipped with graphics processing units (GPUs) provided by NVIDIA, with computing capacity expected to reach 55 megawatts in the first half of 2027, expand to 100 megawatts by the end of that year, and increase to 200 megawatts by 2028, ultimately upgrading to gigawatt-level super-large AI infrastructure. Regarding this tripartite cooperation, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang confirmed it. He pointed out that the three parties are collaborating to build a sovereign AI infrastructure of sufficient scale "to provide momentum for the development of startups and related industries in South Korea."
