SpaceX went public with a record-breaking IPO, which means more congressional members could still disclose purchases near the IPO in the 45-day reporting window. The latest disclosure comes from a Democrat who has been outspoken against Musk in the past. ## **Rep. Jared Moskowitz Buys SpaceX Stock** Rep. **Jared Moskowitz** (D-Fla.) recently disclosed buying SpaceX stock, as reported by the Benzinga Government Trades page. The transaction, valued at $1,000 to $15,000, happened on June 12, the day of the SpaceX IPO. SpaceX stock traded between $149.34 and $176.52 on that date. Today, the space stock trades at $110.96. Moskowitz also disclosed buying shares of **Applied Materials** (NASDAQ:AMAT), **HCA Healthcare** (NYSE:HCA), **Home Depot** (NYSE:HD), **Meta Platforms** (NASDAQ:META), **Monster Beverage** (NASDAQ:MNST) and **Microsoft Corporation** (NASDAQ:MSFT). Moskowitz also sold shares of **S&P Global** (NYSE:SPGI) according to the latest disclosure. The purchase of SpaceX stock may be surprising from Moskowitz given his past commentary on Musk. In 2023, Moskowitz criticized social media platform X (then still called Twitter), saying that since Musk’s purchase it had become a "hate filled playground for Nazis and antisemites," according to Business Insider. The congressman also stated Musk had "set it free" of its users, leading to an upsurge of antisemitism on the platform. Moskowitz was the first Democrat to join the DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) caucus, a government effort led by Musk. The congressman later became critical and said members were not looped into Musk’s decisions. Moskowitz later said DOGE was "a complete failure" in May 2025, as reported by The Hill. Here’s the current list: - Rep. **William Timmons** (R-S.C.) - Rep. **John James** (R-Mich.) - Rep. **John McGuire** (R-Va.) - Rep. **Gil Cisneros** (D-Calif.) - Rep. **Daniel Meuser** (R-Pa.) - Sen. **Lisa McClain** (R-Mich.) McClain previously became a shareholder in SpaceX before the company went public, with her husband buying a stake in xAI before its merger with the space company. Cisneros and McGuire serve on the House Armed Services Committee, which could make the purchase of SpaceX stock questionable. SpaceX has multiple federal government contracts, including those with the Pentagon, NASA and Space Force. James serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which has jurisdiction over the Federal Communications Commission, which plays a key role in regulation for SpaceX.
