# Citi Maintains Year-end Copper Price TP at USD15,000 per Ton

Citi said in a report that it remains constructive on the copper market over the coming weeks, as signs of tightening physical supply have emerged in China's spot market. The bank maintained its 0-3 month short-term copper price target at USD14,500 per ton and its year-end target at USD15,000 per ton.

The report said that over the past month, copper prices have remained resilient despite a pullback in speculative long positions and broader weakness across commodities. While demand growth remains weak, the supply side is facing greater pressure. Visible inventories outside the US, particularly in China, have continued to decline, while China's import demand has risen, both indicating potential constraints in physical supply. Global mine supply remains under pressure, while scrap supply has shown a weak response to high prices YTD. Supply risks at Chilean mines and sulfur supply constraints could marginally boost market sentiment.(ha/u)
