# Meituan Launches All-Scenario AI Agent Platform CatPaw, Already Covering 90,000 Employees Internally

On July 27, Meituan announced the official launch of CatPaw, its all-scenario AI Agent platform. The platform offers an out-of-the-box AI workbench, as well as enterprise-grade Agent development and hosting capabilities, targeting local lifestyle merchants.

CatPaw is not a brand-new product. According to public information, it was initially launched internally at Meituan in 2023 as an editor plugin. After nearly three years of iteration, it has completed this upgrade and entered public beta testing. Currently, its R&D penetration rate within Meituan exceeds 95%, with over 50% of incremental code generated by AI.

Data disclosed by Meituan shows that CatPaw already covers 90,000 employees internally, with over 30,000 Agents built. These Agents have been validated in multiple real-world business scenarios, including catering, beauty services, and pet hospitals.

In terms of functionality, CatPaw is positioned as an auxiliary tool for merchants' daily operations. After completing authorization and rule configuration, the AI assistants built by merchants can automatically aggregate dispersed information such as sales, group-buying redemptions, reviews, and inventory, identify operational anomalies and pending items, and generate reports. Leveraging Meituan's data accumulation in the local lifestyle sector, the platform comes with built-in features such as store review analysis, product copywriting, marketing posters, and operational reports.

Regarding interaction, CatPaw supports collaboration across mobile, PC, and cloud environments.

The mobile end allows users to initiate tasks and check progress at any time; the PC end features capabilities such as file operations, browser control, and terminal commands; and the cloud supports 7×24-hour operation. When encountering complex tasks, the system can dynamically decompose them and schedule multiple Agents for concurrent processing.

Notably, CatPaw explicitly does not make final operational decisions. Key actions such as price adjustments and campaign launches still require confirmation by operators, while AI is responsible for information organization, problem presentation, and strategic recommendations.

For enterprises with customization needs, CatPaw provides Agent development, deployment, and runtime management capabilities. Enterprises can independently configure prompts, knowledge bases, credentials, tools, and permissions to integrate AI assistants with platforms such as Lark and WeCom. The platform also supports isolated runtime environments, credential management, session logging, and private deployment.

The launch of CatPaw marks the implementation of Meituan's AI strategy on the B2B side. In the first quarter of this year, Meituan's R&D expenditure increased by 22% year-over-year to RMB 7 billion, accounting for 7.7% of total revenue.

CEO Wang Xing stated during the earnings conference call that Meituan views AI as a strategic opportunity to consolidate its moat and create new value, and will continue to iterate on its AI Agent and large model capabilities.

In early July, Meituan open-sourced LongCat-2.0, a trillion-parameter large model. This model is the industry's first trillion-parameter large model whose entire training and inference process relies entirely on domestic computing power.

Looking at CatPaw's evolution path, from an internal editor plugin to an all-scenario AI Agent platform, and from R&D scenarios to merchant operational scenarios, Meituan is attempting to extend its AI capabilities from its strong technical segments to the front end of business operations.

However, a realistic challenge remains: the vast number of local lifestyle merchants have varying levels of digitalization. Whether CatPaw can truly lower the barrier to entry and sustain usage in real operational scenarios still requires time to verify.

Currently, the product is fully open for trial.
