# The Great Pivot: How AI and Crypto Infrastructure Ate the 2026 Market

I'm told that just last month, an Irish holding company originally famous for scooping up emerging soccer clubs closed a roughly **USD 300 million** PIPE financing round. Led by UAE's Pulsar Group and joined by Ark Invest, the money isn't going toward star strikers. Instead, the firm is violently pivoting its entire operation into a Solana-based crypto infrastructure business. It sounds like a punchline from a post-modern finance joke, but it perfectly encapsulates the chaotic reality of the 2026 market: every sector, no matter how legacy or peripheral, is being eaten by the twin engines of AI and blockchain.

This matters because once you look past the mega-cap hyperscalers, the long tail of the public market is reorganizing itself around these very same infrastructural realities.

Take the aforementioned **Brera Holdings (SLMT.US)**. The company went as far as changing its ticker to reflect its new Solana-centric identity. Despite facing a derivative lawsuit alleging fiduciary breaches and seeing its stock price swing wildly amid the controversy, its digital asset treasury play has undeniably captured attention. On the other side of the crypto spectrum, institutionalization is cementing the foundation. The crypto industry surrounding **Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust (MSBT.US)** is witnessing a massive shift toward stability. In July 2026, major financial players, including BlackRock, formed the Bitcoin Security Alliance, pledging **USD 15 million** to secure the network. Crypto is no longer a casino for retail traders; it is the plumbing of Wall Street.

While blockchain rewrites finance, AI is rewriting both silicon and biology. **SiTime Corporation (SITM.US)**, a provider of MEMS-based timing devices, is directly riding the coattails of AI and high-performance computing data centers. The company reported a net revenue of **USD 113.6 million** in Q1 2026, a massive **88%** jump year-over-year. By July, it closed its acquisition of Renesas' timing business to accelerate its path to a billion-dollar revenue run rate. Though its stock recently dipped alongside a broader semiconductor sector sell-off, its role in the AI hardware supply chain is solid. Meanwhile, AI is creeping into wet labs. **Twist Bioscience Corporation (TWST.US)** saw its Q1 revenue grow by **17%**, fueled by AI-driven drug discovery. The stock received a notable boost in April following the launch of Amazon's bio-discovery tools. Twist is now expanding its cloning products and partnering with LenioBio to aggressively accelerate AI-guided protein design.

And yet, an infrastructure boom doesn't mean every company gets a glossy sci-fi narrative. The truth, as usual, is more complicated. For many traditional firms, 2026 is about quietly deploying these technologies just to survive and maintain margins. Financial service veterans like **Jack Henry & Associates Inc (JKHY.US)** and **SEI Investment Co (SEIC.US)** are heavily investing in AI for personalized banking services and fending off cybersecurity threats posed by digital assets. In the credit markets, business development companies like **Carlyle Secured Lending Inc (CGBD.US)** are supplying the critical secured debt that middle-market companies desperately need to fund their own technological transitions.

Even the most physical of industries are overhauling their backends. **American Eagle Outfitters Inc (AEO.US)** announced in July 2026 that it is spending **USD 41 million** to build a new distribution center in North Carolina, slated for early 2027, to upgrade its logistics network. In healthcare, **CVS Health Corporation (CVS.US)** is leaning into telehealth and tech-integrated patient care models. In the experiential economy, operators like **LuxUrban Hotels (LUXE.US)** are trying to balance the growing demand for luxury travel with necessary technological integrations to stay relevant.

My view is that the old sector classifications have completely broken down. Whether you are selling jeans, synthesizing DNA, or routing payments, to survive in 2026, you are ultimately forced to become a tech infrastructure company. If you are still trying to evaluate these businesses using the traditional metrics of their legacy categories—well, good luck with that.
