An announcement from UMB Financial ( (UMBF) ) is now available.

On July 28, 2026, UMB Financial reported strong second-quarter 2026 results, with GAAP net income available to common shareholders rising 26.2% year over year to $271.8 million, or $3.56 per diluted share, on revenue of $778.0 million. Performance was driven by 14.0% growth in net interest income, a 10.5% increase in noninterest income, improved net interest margin to 3.32%, and an efficiency ratio bettering to 48.4%, while asset quality remained solid with net charge-offs at 16 basis points and nonperforming loans down to 31 basis points of total loans.

Average loans exceeded $40 billion for the first time, reaching $41.1 billion at June 30, 2026, propelled by robust commercial and industrial lending and record quarterly loan production of $2.6 billion. Fee income benefited from gains in the private investment portfolio and strong contributions from fund services, corporate trust and custody, and card-related businesses, supporting a 16.3% increase in the quarterly common dividend to $0.50 per share and underscoring UMB’s strengthened profitability and shareholder-return profile.

In a separate move announced the same day, the board declared a quarterly common stock dividend of $0.50 per share payable on October 1, 2026, to shareholders of record on September 10, 2026. The board also approved a dividend of $193.75 per share on the Series B 7.750% preferred stock, or $0.484375 per depositary share, payable on October 15, 2026, to preferred shareholders of record on September 30, 2026, highlighting continued capital returns alongside the company’s earnings momentum.

**Spark’s Take on UMBF Stock**

According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, UMBF is a Outperform.

The score is driven primarily by strong financial performance trends and a favorable earnings-call outlook (loan growth, improving funding costs, operating leverage and capital build). Technicals are also supportive with strong momentum above key moving averages. Valuation is a relative drag due to a modest yield and an unusable P/E figure, which limits valuation confidence.
