The Hang Seng Finance Sub-index has grossed a 13% gain so far this year, way more than the HSI's 0.3% increase. HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) \-0.900 (-0.556%) Short selling $282.39M; Ratio 21.808% once set a new high this morning at HKD163.6. It last quoted at HKD161, down 0.62%, but still up nearly 32% year to date. BOC HONG KONG (02388.HK) \-0.400 (-0.771%) Short selling $177.06M; Ratio 20.155% and BANK OF CHINA (03988.HK) \-0.020 (-0.367%) Short selling $191.78M; Ratio 17.049% have also escalated more than 30% and more than 20% respectively so far this year. BANK OF E ASIA (00023.HK) +0.240 (+1.515%) Short selling $3.47M; Ratio 8.904% has amassed a gain of nearly 19% this year, while Dah Sing Banking Group has elevated about 40% year to date. Sat Duhra, fund manager at Janus Henderson Investors, commented that Asia has logged a large-scale sector rotation this month, with funds flowing out of AI sector and rotating into defensive banking and financial stocks offering strong dividend yields. Morgan Stanley expected financial stocks to outperform in 2H26, saying investors have started to recognize the sector's more stable earnings capability and shareholder return outlook.
