# AXA Backs 2026 Views After First-Half Earnings Rise

French insurer AXA backed its targets for the year after reporting a rise in earnings over the first half. 

Net profit rose 9% at constant currency from a year earlier to 4.17 billion euros ($4.81 billion), AXA said Friday. Earnings were boosted by a 5% increase in gross written premiums and other revenue to 66.29 billion euros, the insurer said. 

The Life & Health business booked the fastest increase in gross written premiums, rising 8% year-on-year on a comparable basis to 31.16 billion euros. The Property & Casualty business recorded a 3% increase to 35.07 billion euros. 

The company backed its financial targets for the year, including reaching the upper end of a 6%-8% targeted range for growth in underlying earnings for the year, and underlying return on equity between 14% and 16% between 2024 and 2026.
