# Global memory shortage affects Apple's MacBook Air

According to technology journalist Mark Gurman, the global shortage of memory chips is affecting the supply of Apple's best-selling Mac models.

Gurman stated that this shortage is driven by the massive demand for chips from various AI companies. The supply issue has previously impacted Apple's relatively niche Mac mini and Mac Studio models. Now, Apple is struggling to maintain inventory even for the MacBook Air, with several retailers reporting that the level of supply tightness has reached unprecedented levels.

The facts also confirm this: if consumers order the MacBook Air from Apple's official website, delivery will take until late August, with some configurations requiring a wait until September.

Meanwhile, Apple has postponed its latest back-to-school promotional campaign from June. Additionally, Apple's promotional materials have shifted focus for the first time to the base model of the MacBook Pro, with the promotional copy even indicating that the MacBook Air will be supplied based on inventory availability
