description: "In an interview, Donald Trump claimed that the United States would \"control\" Greenland before the end of his term (before January 2029), implying a bet on this outcome. This move stems from the U.S. emphasis on Greenland's strategic location and rare earth resources. However, these remarks were firmly rejected by the Greenlandic self-rule government and the Danish Prime Minister, both of whom explicitly stated that Greenland is not for sale and will not belong to the United States. Recently, Donald Trump also posted related AI-generated images on social media to express his intentions"

# Before 2029! Donald Trump Rarely Sets Timeline to "Control" Greenland

According to reports, Steve Gruber, host of the conservative U.S. media program "The Real America Voice," said in an interview on July 31: "I predicted on this program that before you leave office, Greenland will be under our actual control." Donald Trump replied, "You will be right... Greenland is very important to us... You should place a bet on this."

The Independent noted that Donald Trump has long advocated for the United States to seize control of Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark. He previously expressed hope for a "complete and total purchase" of Greenland and threatened to impose additional tariffs on goods from some European countries, including Denmark, to push for relevant agreements. Newsweek pointed out that U.S. officials claim the push to "control" Greenland is driven by national security considerations. Currently, the United States maintains a military presence in Greenland through the Pituffik Space Base, conducting activities such as missile warning and space surveillance. Greenland also possesses rare earth deposits and other critical mineral resources essential to modern technology and military supply chains.

The report mentioned that Donald Trump's remarks about "controlling" Greenland were opposed by Greenland and Denmark. Jens - Frederik Nielsen, Prime Minister of the Greenlandic self-rule government, stated: "Greenland is not for sale." He emphasized that Greenland "will not be owned by the United States, will not be ruled by the United States, and will not become part of the United States." Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen also stated: "It is well known that the United States wants to own and take over Greenland. I hope the whole world knows that this will not happen."

The Independent reported that from August 1 to 2, Donald Trump posted approximately 40 messages on the "Truth Social" platform, some of which were images generated by artificial intelligence (AI) technology. One image showed a giant Donald Trump overlooking Greenland, implying his desire for the United States to "control" Greenland.
