# 25 U.S. States File Lawsuit Opposing Latest U.S. Government Tariff Measures

It was learned on August 3 that court documents show 25 U.S. states have filed a lawsuit opposing the latest tariff measures implemented by the U.S. government. The New York State Attorney General announced that the 25 U.S. states, led by Democrats, filed the lawsuit against the U.S. government on that day. These states argue that the President's latest round of tariffs on goods from 60 trading partners exceeds his statutory authority to levy taxes on imports. The Attorney General stated that the latest tariffs are merely intended to replace those tariff measures previously rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court. The new tariffs are unlawfully broad in scope and bypass the legally mandated investigation procedures for specific countries. (CCTV)
